The Best Christmas Children’s Book

12 / 14 / 1812 / 18 / 18

Best Christmas Book

I have always been a lover of all things Christmas. It is the most exciting time of the year for me. Even before I was a Believer, it was the holiday I looked forward to January through November.

Now, as a mom, I have a whole new outlook on this amazing holiday. We take in all the local events, share the story of Jesus and enjoy shopping for gifts. Our three-year-old is beginning to love the season, too!

Here are a few traditions we hold dear to our hearts, and I hope it helps inspire you to build memories with your kiddos.

Lisa Alfaro: Gifts for the holiday hostess

It’s the most exciting time of the year! And with the holidays comes lots and lots of parties.

You may find yourself at many a soiree that include a gracious hostess. How do you thank them? I think the art of etiquette has been lost on many through the generations, so if you are not one to give hostess gifts I hope you will reconsider this year!

I’ve pulled together some of my favorite, thoughtful host gifts in many price points.

Santa’s coming to town: Where to see Santa in New Braunfels

11 / 14 / 1812 / 3 / 18
BabyCoolJ celebrating his first Christmas in Austin, 2015

It is my favorite time of year! I love the fall and lead up to Christmas. It all starts with BabyCoolJ’s birthday in September, our anniversary and pumpkin patches in October, my birthday and fall festivals in November….then DECEMBER! From Christmas events to gift exchanges, Santa sightings and holiday movies, our Christmas activity advent calendar and ultimately celebrating the birth of Jesus. I absolutely love Christmas!

It is our first Christmas in New Braunfels and I’ve curated an inclusive list of places you can catch Santa – and maybe Mrs. Clause or an elf!

Lisa’s Loves: what I heart in October

10 / 31 / 184 / 25 / 19

Can y’all believe it is already going to be November? This year has flown by – but I also look forward to this month for a few reasons! If you have hung out with me on Instagram or Facebook, you know I absolutely love the fall. So much to celebrate: the leaves changing, the quiet outdoors, cool breezes, pumpkins, light sweaters (hopefully – I am in Texas!) and it is my anniversary month!

We had an exciting October, although none of it went as planned. I had pumpkin patches and fall festivals scheduled for every weekend in October, but we were sidetracked along the way. After our 3-day trip turned into 2 weeks, our plans were set aside. But, the most amazing silver lining is I was able to get in a lot of online courses. I am a total nerd when it comes to personal development. Always a fangirl of conferences, I love that there is a plethora of information on the internet. It can be information overload, but when you find the best coach for you and your brand, it is like getting front row seats to your favorite concert! Goals, goals, goals here I come.

While I mostly include fashion, beauty and mom-stuff on this list, I want to kick off my October loves with this amazing online course & coaching…

10 / 20 / 1812 / 18 / 18

Affordable Kids Fashion

Fashion means everything to me, and keeping my toddler hip & cool can come at a pretty penny!

I love finding awesome deals and still have some retailers for toddler boy clothes I totally dig, but after discovering Kids on 45th, my life will forever be changed…for the better.

Y’all, I know subscription boxes are all the rage. But, let me tell you why this one is SO MUCH BETTER. You’ll thank me soon enough.

How to overcome guilt or judgement by spending time in Romans 14

Romans 14: How to overcome guilt or judgement

It’s been so long since I’ve written a faith centered post… (here’s the last one) and I have felt the Holy Spirit tugging at my heart this last month.

I find it ironic that I am the first person to build people up and tell them they can do anything, yet I find myself crippled by sharing anything lately. Not because I have fear or self-consciousness, I mostly have suffered a writer’s block of sorts.  I have been so dedicated to reading my Bible this year, despite getting a late start after taking months off. #truth

Step up your style with Avoalre sunglasses

This post was sponsored by Avoalre. All opinions and content are my own. Some of the links on this page are affiliate links and, at no extra cost to you, I may receive a small commission if you make a purchase. I only recommend products that I personally use/love.

I’ve always had a thing for sunglasses. Being into fashion is more than just a cute top and shoes. So when I had the opportunity to pick a pair of sunglasses from Avoalre I was stoked!

After checking out the options, I went with Rose Wine. These radiant and trendy rose gold shades feature a metal frame, round-aviator hybrid shape and polarized lenses. I have always wanted sunglasses that have a rich reflection and these definitely fit the bill!

Stay cool this summer in these 10 plus size outfits

7 / 30 / 187 / 29 / 18

Our summer is brutal in Texas this year. We’ve been in the 100’s for weeks, plus it feels like 110+. I am not one to stay indoors (and my toddler won’t allow that!), so cute fashion that keeps me cool is a must.

I had the very special opportunity to be a model for an online boutique, B’in Gruene, that is headquartered in New Braunfels. Once a thriving brick and mortar in Gruene, they now cater to beyond our little town through their online shop and this special VIP Group. (Go join now for the hottest deals!)

Our fall fashion line just dropped, here’s what you need to buy

7 / 13 / 187 / 12 / 18

The beautiful, flattering and confidence boosting fall line launched this week with Ruby Ribbon! Meanwhile, in Texas, it’s 100 degrees for 3 more months…

But seriously, who doesn’t want to start buying some of these gorgeous fall trends?

If you’ve been here a while you know how much I love Ruby Ribbon. Not only have I been bra-free for more than 2 years, but I also love their shaping essentials (hello, leggings with built in shaping FTW!) and pretty fashionable pieces.

Central Texas day trip: Boerne, Texas

7 / 11 / 187 / 10 / 18

Flashback Funtiques Borne Texas

I picked up the Summer issue of Magnolia Journal and was completely inspired by an article by Chip and Joanna talking about their day-dates. Every month, my husband and I make our best attempts at going out when my parents visit, but sometimes a dinner at a restaurant simply isn’t enough.

Inspired and determined, Mi Amor and I hopped in the car on Saturday morning and drove down Highway 46.

We picked Boerne as our destination, and it was a beautiful, scenic one hour drive from New Braunfels. We had stayed in the town for a wedding in 2016, but with a 6-month-old in tow it was a blur! It was great to go back and explore the charming town.
